The varsity has decided to appoint an advisory committee headed by the pro-vice chancellor to streamline the conduct of arts, sports and other related events held every year. Besides senior officials, the committee will have director of Youth Welfare Department and the chairman of the University union as its members.
Aimed at ensuring efficiency, accuracy and timely publication of results, Cochin University of Science and Technology is planning to introduce Internet-supported digital evaluation of answer sheets of examinations conducted by the university. As pilot to this, as many as 1,000 answer sheets of the MCA exam scheduled to be held in June, will be evaluated digitally.

CUSAT gets its first hydrogen-based cooking system
The cafeteria at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) will now have an opportunity to experiment with alternative methods of cooking. A hydrogen-based cooking system called Hydgas was installed at the cafeteria on March 4. The product, created by Reinwo, a Kochi-based startup firm, will be undergoing a pilot run for 45 days. CUSAT upgrade: HRD ministry demands 4-year project plan
The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has asked the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) to submit a four-year project plan as part of upgrading the varsity to an Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST). The Ministry has directed the university authorities to submit a break-up plan on how it will utilize the proposed initial budget of Rs. 500 crore sought in the detailed project report on converting it to an IIEST. On Thursday, the authorities at Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) sealed the fun after they released an order stating that professional shows and DJ parties are banned from arts festivals or otherwise on the campus.
CUSAT to encourage students to join for popular online courses.
Soon, a student of Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) will be able to pursue a course offered by internationally-renowned University online. Encouraged by the growing interest for the massive open online courses (MOOCs), the varsity is mulling over a proposal to tie-up with renowned higher educational institutions abroad. The move is also part of efforts to improve internationalisation of higher education.
