KOCHI: An associate professor of the electrical and electronics engineering department of theCochin University College of Engineering, Kuttanad ( CUCEK) who was suspended for raising ‘unsustainable’ allegations against a fellow faculty, has in his reply to memo of charges denied the charges leveled against him.
Cusat syndicate had suspended Josephkutty Jacob, who was also the former acting principal of the college, pending detailed enquiry, with immediate effect after it was found that Jacob had indulged in gross indiscipline by making baseless allegations against a fellow faculty. Jacob had sent a letter to Cusat authorities in 2011 in which he had alleged that anotherfaculty member had misbehaved with a girl. Sources said the letter did not contain any specific complaint from the students or teachers to substantiate the allegations.
“After receiving his reply to memo of charges, the matter was placed before the syndicate sub-committee, which will conduct a detailed inquiry”, said Cusat registrar, A Ramachandran.
