CUSAT to encourage students to join for popular online courses.

Soon, a student of Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) will be able to pursue a course offered by internationally-renowned University online.

Encouraged by the growing interest for the massive open online courses (MOOCs), the varsity is mulling over a proposal to tie-up with renowned higher educational institutions abroad. The move is also part of efforts to improve internationalisation of higher education.

We have received a proposal for academic partnership with the University of Texas to register online students from India. The University will offer its three popular courses online. Cusat will play a facilitator role as our students could use the opportunity to earn additional academic credentials,” J. Letha, Vice Chancellor told The reporters.

Students could enrol for the online courses according to their convenience. The specialised diploma programmes will have three certificates.

It could be completed in 100 days.

Each students registering for the course through Cusat have to pay $500 per certificate instead of the regular fee of $1,500.
