CUSAT opens IPR cell for filing patents

Faculties and students of nine universities in Kerala will benefit from the IPR facilitation cell set up by the Inter University Centre for Intellectual Property Rights Studies (IUCIPRS) of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) to file patent applications.

The cell will provide a platform for inventors and facilitate in filing patent applications and help them till the granting of the patent. The expenditure for filing of patent applications will be borne by IUCIPRS. The prescribed invention disclosure form and other details can be obtained from the website http://ciprs.cusat.ac.in.

“We have identified a consultant who will first look at the application to check whether it is patentable. If it is possible, then documentation will be done with the help of the inventor based on suggestions from the agency. We will follow it up till the process is complete,” said I G Ratheesh, cell coordinator.
