About

The School is conducting a national seminar on “Seafood Safety, Trade and Management” from 09th to 12th March 2016. at Kochi, Kerala for the benefit of Scientists, Academicians, Scholars and Industry.

Fisheries and its allied industries, apart from contributing around 1.4% to national GDP, provide employment to millions. Export growth, in fact, has stimulated the development of infrastructure and post-harvest facilities in this sector. However, this sector is vulnerable to many unpredictable risks. A large variety of fisheries products are exported from the country contributing significantly to the foreign exchange earnings. The export of Indian seafood has been mainly directed to destinations like European Union, USA, Japan and China. However, there is a huge loss in the supply chain in food industry including fish processing industry due to improper handling, processing, transportation and improper quality assurance. In the above context, the School is organizing a National Seminar on “Seafood Safety Trade and Management” to provide a platform for different stake holders to discuss and debate upon the above issues in truly consultative and participatory mode. The seminar will have keynotes, lead talks, paper / poster presentations and deliberations in theme areas by experts and policy makers.
